There are over 300 student clubs and organizations that are supported through the Office of Student Activities. Students in our College are engaged in a wide variety of activities ranging from engineering societies to performing arts groups. Access to all of these opportunities is just one of the things that makes being a student at Syracuse University such a dynamic and fulfilling experience.

Alpha Omega Epsilon
Alpha Omega Epsilon is an international sorority that takes pride in being able to combine social, academic, and service qualities of other Greek societies into one organization.

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics
The objective of this organization is to further, within its locality, the purposes and programs of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

American Institute of Chemical Engineers
AIChE is the American Institute for Chemical Engineers. Here at the Syracuse Chapter we encourage chemical engineers (and any other students) to get to know other chemical engineering students and professionals. AIChE is a great way to get to know your fellow ChemEs, get some work done, and have fun!

American Society of Civil Engineers
American Society of Civil Engineers is a professional society that is committed to enhancing personal and professional development of civil engineering students as well as promoting the civil engineering profession around campus. We have been participating in the ASCE/AISC Student Steel Bridge Competition in the past few years.

American Society of Mechanical Engineers
ASME promotes the art, science & practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe.” ASME at SU is also home to the Rocketry Club. The Rocketry Club develops ideas for hybrid rockets that they want to build. They use 3D modeling software, FEA and other analyzing software to create their models for the rockets and once the analyzing is complete, they build and launch it.

Biomedical Engineering Society
The Biomedical Engineering Society is a professional organization that serves to promote biomedical engineering and aid students in their professional endeavors. Membership into the Syracuse University Chapter is free and all students, regardless of major or class standing, are welcome to join us!

Citrus Racing
The Formula S.A.E. Team is a group in the College of Engineering & Computer Science dedicated to a student design competition. We design, manufacture, and assemble a formula-style vehicle to to challenge our abilities as engineers and automotive enthusiasts. Each year, an international competition is held with teams representing educational institutions from all over the world.

Engineering Ambassadors
The Engineering Ambassadors program is a collaboration between SRC Inc., the Mary Ann Shaw Center for Public & Community Service, the College of Engineering and Computer Science, and the Syracuse City School District. The Engineering Ambassadors program was developed to increase younger students’ exposure to STEM and help them discover a passion in those fields. Each week, volunteers from the College of Engineering & Computer Science go to middle school sites in the city of Syracuse on Friday afternoons, where they serve as role models and facilitate discovery model lessons centered on engineering concepts.

Engineering World Health
We inspire, educate, and empower the biomedical engineering community to improve healthcare delivery in the developing world. We conduct workshops, participate in service trips, and host events to achieve this mission.

Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers
We are the Syracuse University Student Branch of IEEE. We are an organization for a Computer Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and Computer Scientists. We bring in multiple speakers every year to come and talk to our members to not only speak about their industry, but also to offer advice and to network with our members as well.

National Society of Black Engineers
Professional organization to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.

Out in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
oSTEM serves the STEM and LGBT communities and functions to: provide services and support for students interested in or studying the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics; create a dynamic network between students and professionals in industry and academia; and actively recruit and address the needs of diverse groups within the LGBT community, inclusive of those who are historically underrepresented with regards to gender and ethnic background.

Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers
SASE was formed by The Proctor & Gamble Company in November 2007 to improve the retention and development of Asian Heritage Scientists and Engineers. The organizations mission is to: “Prepare Asian heritage scientists and engineers for success in the global business world, celebrate diversity on campuses and in the workplace, and provide opportunities for members to make contributions to their local communities.”

Society of Women Engineers
SU SWE participates in community outreach such as volunteering at Ronald McDonald House, sponsors workshops and networking events with women engineers from local industry. The SWE mission is to stimulate women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders by providing an organization that fosters mentoring and the development of professional and personal networks, creating a sense of identity and community, providing resources for women engineers, and enhancing leadership and professional skills.

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers
SHPE enjoys a strong but independent network of professional and student chapters throughout the nation. Mission SHPE changes lives by empowering the Hispanic community to realize their fullest potential and impacts the world through STEM awareness, access, support and development. Vision SHPE’s vision is a world where Hispanics are highly valued and influential as the leading innovators, scientists, mathematicians and engineers.
